Many of our past brides from Chris Holt Photography ask if we can take their maternity photos once they start their families and we’re so grateful to help photograph this next stage in their life.
Whenever we photograph maternity sessions, we want our moms to be as comfortable as possible, look beautiful, and help them choose a vibe and location that they enjoy being in. We encourage our moms to get their hair, nails, and makeup done before their session as we schedule our maternity sessions in the afternoon or early evening.
Sometimes our families tell us they don’t have a location preference so we’ll narrow down a location that will fit the decor of their home.
For Kimi’s maternity session, this was her first pregnancy and she wanted to stay near her husband Daniel’s grandparent’s home, where all the cousins would play in the summer.
Since Kimi’s dress had a floral pattern, the rose garden was the perfect place! We were also able to incorporate the arches as well as the playhouse their grandfather built for all of his grandchildren.
We strive to help our moms look as beautiful as possible by helping them pose individually as well as with their significant other. As much as we love highlighting our mommas with their beautiful belly, we love including dad into portraits to love on momma and baby as most of the time, they will be a little family within a few weeks. There’s nothing more beautiful than to see a glowing mom, posed beautifully with her soon-to-be newborn baby!
We also love including anything that has meaning to our mom and dads. Sometimes we have props like ultrasound photos, banners with baby’s name, or we subtly include that extra meaning in the background, like Daniel’s childhood playhouse.
For many of our new moms, they decide to include their next 3 sessions as part of our Grow With Me Sessions to photograph the major stages of their baby and new family. Once baby is born, we’ll include their newborn session, then at 6 months baby is sitting up and crawling around most of the time and the last session is when baby is around 1 year old or walking. Then at the end of baby’s first year, we’ll include their photos in a beautiful album.
You can contact us to find out more details for our Grow With Me Sessions, but for now, I hope you enjoy Kimi’s maternity session!
